All democratic and affluent, with well-educated populations and high health standards, these countries have interacted with each other extensively over the years in commercial, cultural, and scientific affairs. The essayists, all resident health care experts, address here the ways in which their countries influence, and are influenced by, the health care systems of other countries studied here. They also examine their common problems-not least the increasing pressure to serve aging populations while maintaining economic balance. Each covering a different country, the chapters detail the various components of national health care systems: the role, choices, and financial responsibility of the patient, physician training and influence, the organization and financing of hospitals, provisions for care of the elderly and mentally ill, public health services, the role of private health insurance, national health expenditures and efforts at cost containment, and the role of government. Each chapter is supplemented with a wealth of statistical data relevant to the respective country. The final chapter by Marshall W. Raffel addresses some of the overarching issues that emerge from the study of these ten countries. М. С. Majo Income and health care utilization among the 50+ in Europe US

This study addresses the question how income affects health care utilization by the population aged 50 and over in the United States and a number of European countries with varying health care systems. The probabilities that individuals receive several medical services (visits to general practitioner, specialist, dentist, inpatient, or outpatient services) are analyzed separately using probit models. In addition to controls for income and demographic characteristics, controls for health status (both subjective and objective measures of health) are used. We analyze how the relationship between income and health care utilization varies across countries and relate these cross country differences to characteristics of the health care system, i. e., per capita total and public expenditure on health care, gate-keeping for specialist care, and copayments.

Rahul Kamble Environmental Management System in Dairy Industry

Scientific Essay from the year 2001 in the subject Environmental Sciences, grade: 7.0, University of Twente (Cartesius institute), course: MBA Environmental and Energy Managmenet, language: English, abstract: This manual contains a detailed description of the Environmental Management System. It also contains procedures and work instructions, which are also requirements of the Quality Management System (QMS) and Health and Safety Management (H&S). Both the QMS and H&S will not be discussed in detail in this advisory report. The Quality Management System is a change mechanism, which is targeted at developing a customer driven organization through integrative working practices. The underlying purpose of Total Quality Management has much common ground with the EMS. Health and Safety Management can be regarded as a set of external controls dictated to business and which establishes and fulfills specific targets. In the project of wastewater minimization, the Health and Safety Department helps the team by carrying out the necessary risk assessment of operations and develops related control activities. The Health and Safety Manager also has a role as member of the project team, so the integration between the systems will be fully established.Effective health, safety (and environmental management) is not common sense but is based on a common understanding of risks and how to control them brought about through good management.

Christiane Landsiedel Health Care Policy and Reform in Germany Sweden the 1990s

Master's Thesis from the year 2005 in the subject Sociology - Political Sociology, Majorities, Minorities, grade: A (Excellent), University of Dalarna (European Political Sociology), 60 entries in the bibliography, language: English, abstract: The provision of welfare is a defining characteristic of the states in Europe, as well as the target of various reform efforts. Within the European welfare states, health care is embedded as a public affair and despite slight variations, the majority of European states guarantees most of the cost of using health services to almost all of their citizens (OECD 1992; 1994). As health care is among the most personal issues, it is also among the most politically discussed. During the 1990s, reforms were introduced in the health care sector in many European countries with the common goal to make existing health care systems more cost efficient and gain greater control over how public resources were spent within them (Mossialos/Le Grand 1999). However, expenditure cuts with regard to the health care system are politically delicate.

Mani Tousi Hybrid Management in a Hierarchy Organization

In this book, the problem of management in an organization with a hierarchical structure is modeled as a hybrid multi-layer switching control problem. A novel approach is proposed to transfer a management problem to a control system problem. The supervisory control of a Discrete-Event System (DES) is used for decision making in the organization. This method takes advantage of the hierarchical structure of an organization to find the optimal solution in terms of achieving the desired scopes of the project while minimizing the resources (time and cost). Although the problem formulation is explained for a hierarchical organization, the method is general enough to be applied to any team collaboration problem including the flat structure organizations. In fact, this methodology improves the monitoring and controlling phase of the project management.

Dr. Montague provides an interesting overview of his journey through hospital wards, clinical trials, patient registries, patient health management and chronic disease management programs. He well understands both the problem and the solution, which is to pull out all the stops and to put patients first. He advocates patient health management to close the many care gaps.
